Florida manatee in the Keys.

Conch Key, the heart of the Florida Keys, is on the north side of U.S.1. If the wind and waves are too strong on the oceanside, you'll be able to fish on the bayside, behind our mangrove islands and the flats (shallow areas in the bay.) Florida Bay is a beautiful body of water with fresh water aqua springs. These fresh water springs are where the manatees can drink the fresh water that a mammal needs. Manatees migrate through the Florida Keys in the winter for warmer waters. They return to the fresh water rivers of Florida's Gulf Coast to have their offspring at spring time. Jimmy Buffet is a sponsor for the Florida manatee and warns not to give them water from a hose. Just like feeding a bear, they will seek a hand-out from humans and that creates a problem. The manatee's problem is being injured by a boat's propeller. Our island people idle out of the Conch Key channel when boating. So, be sure to enjoy our two bedroom rental in the Florida Keys.
